An exciting new partnership project with Llanfyllin Shed (formerly Mens' Shed) called ‘Learn and Build - Working Together for Nature’ will see us working with local individuals and communities to see people taking action for nature while gaining practical skills.
Thanks to an Awards for All National Lottery Grant of £10,000, Learn and Build - Working Together for Nature combines the skills of The Shed, along with the knowledge of Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust, to promote the protection and conservation of local wildlife.
Twelve awareness-raising events will be held across the year, working with local community groups and attending local events. Members of Llanfyllin Shed (also known simply as 'The Shed') will come with flat-pack wildlife homes for people to build, alongside an MWT staff member who will talk about the different birds and animals these creations will provide habitat for.
Each participant will learn how to care for nature and their environment, as well as gaining hands-on basic woodworking skills.
Running from 1st April 2024 until 31st March 2025, the project has the potential to reach out to hundreds of local people, giving everyone involved a sense of community, local pride and belonging, while making positive changes for the environment and conservation.
