The Dyfi is an exceptionally rich area for both wildlife and geology, with a wide range of internationally and nationally important habitats and species. Morfa Dyfi William Condry is a small, but integral part of this site, consisting of a variety of habitats including saltmarsh, rush pasture and mire, bordering the river. It is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), Special Area for Conservation (SAC) and part of the Dyfi Biosphere Reserve.

The Dyfi Estuary is attractive to a great diversity of animal life. Overwintering wildfowl, such as Wigeon, Mallard and Teal, are numerous. Waders, such as Curlew, Dunlin and Oystercatcher, are also abundant in the winter and during migration. The vegetation creates an important feeding area for Snipe. The river is an important hunting ground for Ospreys.

These abundant bird assemblages are attracted by the variety of invertebrate prey. The Dyfi supports many rare and scarce species

Morfa Dyfi William Condry Nature Reserve is a site for wildlife - there is no public access. Tidal influence and terrain make the site too dangerous.
