The majority of Gregynog estate lies within a National Nature Reserve (NNR), while its ancient oak-filled Great Wood is part of the National Forest for Wales and a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) teeming with wildlife, including many rare birds.

Join us for a morning walk around Gregynog’s Great Wood to learn about the birds that can be seen and heard there at this time of year, such as Pied Flycatcher, Willow Warbler, Chiff Chaff and Blackcap.

We’ll be talking about birdsong and how to identify birds, including how you can use technology and smartphone apps such as Merlin to help you develop your identification skills.

This event is taking place as part of the Welcome Home to Nature project, which is led by Gregynog, in partnership with Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust. The project is funded by the Nature Networks Fund, which is a Welsh Government fund developed in partnership with Natural Resources Wales administered by the National Heritage Lottery Fund (NHLF) on behalf of Welsh Government.
